Year 11 student Piers Washer has just secured a place on the England U18 Alpine ski team.
For the last two years Piers has been following a structured programme through Team Evolution Alpine Racing.This has allowed him to balance his skiing commitments with his academic work,while continuing to develop his all round athletic ability.
This week, Yr 12 Health and Social Care students were fortunate enough to be welcomed at Hurstwood View Care Home in Five Ash Down, for a tour of the facilities and a discussion about the first class provision given to residents. This information will considerably help students with their ‘Caring for Older People’ and ‘Dementia Care’ units. Hurstwood View staff took time to demonstrate the functioning of one of the bath hoists, as shown in the picture.
Our year GCSE Drama 10 students delighted the lunchtime audience at Thyme for Food and Friends in Uckfield on Wednesday 16th July. The event, which was part of the Uckfield Festival, involved students in performing extracts from Lady Windermere's Fan by Oscar Wilde and The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams outside on the deck at the back of the restaurant.
Year 10 celebration Assembly will not take place in it's traditional form this coming Monday. This will be be replaced by an assembly focused on making a positive start to Year 11 on Friday 5th September. Kind Regards, James Gietzen Director of Year 10
End of term arrangements
As is the custom at the end of every full term, lessons will end at 13:20pm on Wednesday 23rd July. Food is available for students if required at morning break. School transport will leave the College at 13:35pm.
Year 10 Thorpe Park visit
July 18th 2014 - Arrive/meet at school at 8.00 am by the school cage near the youth club. We leave Thorpe Park at 4.00 pm and aim to arrive back at school at 5.30pm.

Year 9 Celebration update
Dear Parents/Carers - due to the possible strike action on the Thursday 10th July the Year 9 Celebration Meal at Luna on the 10th July has been moved to Tuesday 22nd July. "Explore Iceland 2015". In July 2015 UCTC will be embarking on a 5 day overseas field trip to Iceland - The land of fire and ice! The trip is open to years 10-13 (current year 9-12). - more information here.

School leavers - Uniform
2nd Hand Uniform - If your son/daughter is about to leave year 11 and will no longer require their uniform, please could you consider donating good quality school uniform items to the college. The PTA will sort and then sell the uniform, or pass it on to families on low income. Many thanks.

Last November Ofqual announced that from September (2013) students in England will no longer be able to sit A-level exams in January.
