I first learnt that the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme was facing cuts from East Sussex County Council at a DofE meeting 2 weeks ago and 2 days later I set up the petition. I have been doing DofE since Year 10, and I am now in Year 13 doing my Gold Award, so while I would still be able to complete my award, my sister, all of her friends and all of the other young people that want to do the award would have their access to it severely limited. That's why it was important to me that we stopped the cut and that I started the petition!
On Tuesday January 31st all of our Year 7 students were transported back in time into the Medieval period. Our students enjoyed an immersive day filled with music, dancing, food, costumes, games and crafts; all from the medieval era.
Leo Phoenix (11E) took part in this years Masterchef regional finals in Maidstone. His starter of scotch quail egg, main of sirlion steak and chocolate fondant dessert was superb. We hope that this excellent experience will help Leo who is chasing a career as a Chef. Look out for him in a restaurant near you.
The Sussex U13 and U15 squash team traveled to Warwick on Saturday, where they played Lancashire, Essex and Warwickshire in the Inter County Squash Championships. UCTC students Leesha Daniels and Troy Southall were key members of the team winning all of their matches.
