 Year 7 trip on Monday 4th Feb 

We have had an email from the London Philharmonic Orchestra asking for students attending  to possibly download a free app to use on their phone. It is a candle app and will be used during one of the orchestral pieces. Do not worry if your son/daughter is unable to do this.

Return Coaches form the trip: Unless there are changes on the day the coaches will return to the following venues on Monday. Please do not park in the way of coaches. Updates on ETA will be sent to reception and updated on website. Estimated return at 6:30-7:00 p.m.

Due to deteriorating conditions and road closures tomorrow the school will now be closed for all students EXCEPT those doing examinations, which will run as normal.  Any further updates will be communicated here and via the ESCC Schools Emergency Closure page.
There is a document containing work for students to be getting on with here: WORK FOR STUDENTS - please note this is being updated frequently, so please keep checking. (Only students/staff can view this - please log into your uctc gmail first) This is not available via non-uctc email accounts.

 Year 9 profiles 

Owing to a minor technical fault there has been a slight delay in the production of the Year 9 Profiles.  Kindly accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. Profiles will now be sent out on Wednesday 16th January.

 Year 7 PANTO Trip Information 
 Wednesday 9^th January  

• Attending the 2pm matinée showing of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ at the Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne.

•  Performance should finish at around 4:15pm.

•  Dependent on traffic conditions coaches will drop off students at around 5:15pm in the youth centre car park. 

• For parents picking up students please park on the school playground or in Utopia car park (not in the youth centre car park as this is reserved for the coaches).

 Last day of term arrangements 

As is custom at UCTC students will finish the term at the end of lesson 4 (1.20pm) on Friday 21st December. College coaches have been booked to leave at 1.35pm.

 Carol Service 

The UCTC Carol Service will take place at Holy Cross Church, Uckfield, at 7:30pm on 18th December 2012.  For more information about this highly popular event and to obtain (free) tickets please view the Carol Service Letter/Form

 Reminder - INSET Day 

A reminder that Friday 30th November is an INSET day and college will be closed for students on that day.

   Maths help for all Year 11 Students  

Weekly Maths Masterclasses will be running on Thursdays after school from 3.30 to 4.30 starting Thursday 4th October. These sessions are open to any student who thinks that they would benefit from some extra help or revision of topics covered previously. There will be two sessions running concurrently - students targeting Grades A* - B should go to M10 and those targeting Grades C - D should go to M6.

  Planners  

All students in Key Stage 3 and 4 have been issued with our  new style planners. These are key to communication between home and college and students need to ensure they have them every day, in every lesson. We are very grateful to the College's PTA for supporting the purchase of these planners.

  Wine and Nibbles evening  

Special evening for parents/carers of Year 7 students to meet your son/daughter's form tutor will be held on Thursday 18th October 7.00-8.30pm in the Hall. All welcome.

 Together to Success Evening 
 Improving Writing Workshop 

Special evening for parents/carers of Year 7 students to help support your son/daughter in their English lessons will be held this Thursday 11th October in the Sixth Form Study Area from 7.00pm until 8.30pm. Everybody welcome.

  Reminder - Tempest Photography  

Orders for the photographs from Tempest Photography need to be returned to school by 12th October. Any orders after that need to be sent directly to Tempest as detailed on the order form. 

  Together to Achieve - Year 11  

Special evening for parents/carers of Year 11 students to help you support your son/daughter in preparation for GCSE examinations over the next few months. More information here

  Spiritus Jam  

Spiritus Jam (Tuesdays after school) now has a few spaces for new drummers who wish to start this term. Please see Sharon in the kitchens, Jacqui Fowler (TA) or Clare Summons. 

On Friday 12th October Year 10 art students have the opportunity to go to Tate Modern to see the current Munch exhibition. For more information and the consent form please see the letters section.

College will finish for students after lesson 4 at 1.20 pm. Buses will leave at 1.35 pm.

All have arrived safely. 

 Sky Dome Image Machine 
 Evening Performance 

Saturday 21st July 2012, 9.30-10.30 pm, at Luxford Field. Featuring Spiritus who operate the shadow puppets in the Samesky Dome.

 Parents Forum and Surgeries 

Dear Parents and Carers,
For our Community College to be truly outstanding, we need to continuously gather feedback from students and parents and use it to shape our future improvements. Your voice has always been extremely valuable to us and we have a number of ways we listen to your views, including Forums and Surgeries. For information about these please see our Letters Page.  Uniform Fitting Days 

A reminder that our evenings for uniform availability and fitting are Tuesday 10th July for Year 8  (to coincide with Year 8 Celebration evening) and Wednesday 11th July for years 7 and 9, and on both evenings will be from 3pm - 8 pm. 

 Wembley visit in Enrichment Week 

Please note that although we are no longer going to the Coca Cola factory we will still be visiting Wembley Stadium as planned.

 PE Celebration Meal 

If your son/daughter would still like to go to the PE celebration meal it's not too late. Payment may still be made via ParentPay. Please return the reply slip/menu choices to Mrs Wheeler in the main office in advance.

 Enrichment Week choices 

There are still places available on Hever Castle visit (3 places), School of Rock (20 places), Bike-ability, Tapas Eastbourne Meal, Europa Centre (all available on Parentpay) and there are free activities as well. Please see website for full details of activities (PARENTS tab/letters).  All forms have been sent home via your son/daughter and there extra ones at reception or on the website.The closing date for their choices to be in is this Friday 18th May. If a form is not received then a choice will be made for your son/daughter.

 Parents' Forum 19.06.2012 

There will be a Parents' Forum between 6.30 and 7.30 pm on Tuesday 19th June in the college Library. Please click for more details of this forum.

 Senior Vision Dance Company 

This has now finished as the exam season begins. We will start up again in September 2012.

 Measles Notification 

The college has been informed by the Health Protection Agency that there is a suspected case of measles within the school. They have asked us to pass on information which can be found in the letter section under the Parents tab above.  Should you have any further queries please contact your GP or contact Merrin Rose, The Student Support Assistant at Uckfield Community Technology College.

 New Uniform (September 2012) 

We are pleased to confirm details of our new uniform for all students in next year's Y7 to 10 (September 2012). This change is being introduced so that our students' appearance better reflects our outstanding college. It has come about after extensive consultation with parents and students and we are very grateful for the many ideas and contributions people have made. There are two samples of the girls' jacket and boys' blazer available should any student or parent want to have a look or try on. Lots of students have been in recently and feedback has been very positive. The uniform suppliers, Sussex Uniforms, will put on opportunities in the College for you to try and buy uniform in the summer term. Please note that the sweatshirt and polo shirt in the current uniform will be used in the new PE uniform from September 2012.

 Year 7 Celebration Evening 

The date for this has changed from May 3rd to 12th July.

 Vouchers for Schools 

We are again collecting Sainsbury and Tesco vouchers and Nestlé box tops  from their respective schools assitance programs. Please do bring/send any of these you have to Reception. Many thanks.

  Gifted and Talented workshop 

There are now only a few remaining places for the Gifted and Talented workshop which will take place in Enrichment week on the 4th July. Sign up soon if you wish to reserve a place

 UCTC Carol Service at 
  Holy Cross Church, Uckfield

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us for the UCTC Carol Service at Holy Cross Church, Uckfield, on 13th December 2011, starting at 7:30pm. Tickets are free, however, we ask that you request these from the College Reception (01825 764844) to ensure adequate seating is available.  Picardy Trip 
We are pleased top announce that this trip is going ahead, and that parents who have expressed an interest will receive a letter in the next few days.

Unfortunately this has been cancelled due to insufficient numbers of pupils to make it viable

 URGENT - BUS PICKUP LOCATION 
 CHANGED 
Please note that the pickup for the number 54 bus has changed. The pick up will be opposite the garage at the stop for the number 29 bus until further notice.

 FREE TRIP TO LONDON 

Dear Parents and Carers  - We have an opportunity for you to support the learning of your child on a day trip to London to the British Musuem and Art Galleries on Thursday 10th November 2011. If you would be interested in accompanying this visit (free of charge) please contact Miss Wilkes at the College Art Department.
