On Monday 18th April four year 7 pupils had a once in a lifetime opportunity by joining pupils and staff at St Richards Catholic College in Bexhill on Sea for a live amateur radio link to Tim Peake aboard the International Space Station. The students visited a pop up planetarium and an exhibit from local universities, amateur radio enthusiasts and the UK Space Agency before settling down to await the live call.
On February 23, 2016 Guinness World Records, the global authority on record-breaking achievement, accepted an application from Megan Jade Baker in year 9 at UCTC. On 23 March 2016, we put her record on display in the Reading Room here at the College.
10 am Tuesday 22nd March 2016 and the BBC microbit lands at UCTC! We are so excited here in the Computing Department; we have been anticipating this moment for quite some time and we simply couldn’t wait to get them into the hands of our brilliant, creative year 7 students.
Armed with just the BBC Microbits and their chromebooks cruising the Microbit website (https://www.microbit.co.uk), a class of year 7 students opened the Microbit packets, connected the battery packs, chose their programming interface and simply started to code.
Having been dedicated to training throughout the year and with only one fixture under their belts the following boys took on the might of Kent & Sussex Private and Grammar schools at Ardingly College in a 7-aside tournament run by East Grinstead Hockey club last Friday.
Just a reminder of some advice to all parents/carers and students about being safe coming to and from school in the darker, winter months. Wear something bright, and always have working lights/reflectors on your bike when cycling. More information here.
Bus service alteration
Slight changes of timings for the 31 Bus Service from 14th November 2016. We have been advised that timings on 31 bus service between Haywards Heath and Uckfield Bus Station will be very little changed although you may wish to note that the 15:45 from Uckfield Bus Station to Maresfield, Newick, North Chailey and Haywards Heath is revised to depart from the Bus Station at 15:50pm.
Mock examinations date change
Please note that the December Year 11 GCSE mock exams will now be being held between the 14th and 20th December inclusive (moved from 12th to 16th December inclusive).

Austria Ski Trip 2017
Friday 31st March 2017, returning on Saturday 8th April.
There are still some places available for next year's ski trip. No experience required! This is an amazing trip where you will get to have great fun on and off the slopes. There's skiing, sledging, racing, bowling, swimming, sliding, quizzing, eating, shopping, relaxing, laughing (lots) and snowballs (lots and lots). All in a safe, fun environment. Battlefields Trip 2017
