Our Model United Nations General Assembly is taking place today (MUNGA). It is one of few such events hosted by UK schools/colleges to feature a whole year group. After a few days of research and preparation for the students, and a quite a few weeks of preparing the event by staff, it all came together.
Noreen Daniels, a member of staff at UCTC, has been recognised by the Royal Humane Society for her part in saving the life of a student who suffered a cardiac arrest whilst at School. Joshua Efford and his parents were at UCTC this week to say a personal thank-you to Noreen.
39 pupils from Madrid recently came to visit us at UCTC in June for a week. They were paired up with a "buddy" from our Years 7, 8 and 9. Our Spanish friends spent the day with their buddy. They accompanied them to lessons and played football, games or chatted through lunch and break. The Spanish agency and teachers were really impressed with the organisation of the exchange and this is entirely down to how reliable our buddies from UCTC were. They were prompt and on time every morning. They were incredibly welcoming to our Spanish guests throughout the day.
The Uscars, UCTC's celebration of film-making talent takes place at the Uckfield Picturehouse on Thursday 23rd June at 2pm. Tickets are available from the Media department. This is an opportunity to view some of the superb work A-level Film & Media students have produced this year. Everyone is welcome.
Yet again, UCTC have been invited to the prestigious South of England Show as part of the Countryside Hub. This year the theme is 'Sheep' and students (and staff!) have been working hard to produce an amazing display of felted clothing, a knitted blanket and 'Dave' our pom-pom sheep. We have also incorporated Micro-bits to light up the clothing with sensors.
The students who had already consented will be vaccinated on Monday 27th February. For students who have not consented and wish to be vaccinated please contact the ImmunisationTeam on 0300 1235205 for information on the next catch up session
Just a reminder of some advice to all parents/carers and students about being safe coming to and from school in the darker, winter months. Wear something bright, and always have working lights/reflectors on your bike when cycling. More information here.
